Absence
For anyone who’s been in love
They know the unrelenting anguish
That comes from nights spent alone in bed
If the power of hope and prayer
Could somehow miraculously make her appear
How beautiful this night would end
But, in her absence,
You hold on to remnants of her memory
A kiss that should never end
Bridging days and weeks of loneliness
Until the next time you bury your face in her hair
Inhaling the scent of her natural beauty
It courses through your veins giving you renewed energy
Store it in your memory for that day once again
When loneliness will kiss you tenderly in her absence.
