Sanctuary of My Mind

Poetry and Prose will take you away, you'll be drifting between darkness and eternal moonlight...savage passion and reasonable love will sing their songs...flickers of happiness, embers of sadness...all you need to forget time is still ticking. (written by a reader)

Juvenile Seduction (musing)

Walking from the store a young boy about 16 or so is in front of me. Classically dressed teenager: pants hanging perilously off his butt, rag for his hair hanging out his back pocket, baseball cap tilted to the side. Walking towards us is a beautiful young lady dressed for summer and causing the sun to get hotter. The situation is eminent and I wait for it to unfold. As she reaches him, he turns to her and lust lives in his eyes. He’s a dog and she’s a piece of steak. He hasn’t eaten in months. “Yo…Yo…Ma” he says to her in his best practiced street hustle. Without missing a step she keeps on sashaying down the street, completely disregarding his juvenile try at seduction. For a second, he seems rather confused that this didn’t work, after all it works in the videos. I stifle my laughter and want to tell him that’s not how it’s done. Not that I know, but I definitely know that’s NOT how it’s done. I want to tell that the lust in his eyes would have frightened even a seasoned hooker. You can lust but in your thoughts not your eyes. It can be quite disconcerting, I would imagine. I want to tell that maybe next time he should try a compliment on her sandals to break the ice, but I don’t tell him this he would probably dismiss my advice. So it goes.
