One Day in Your Life
One of these days when you least expect
I will love you the way you deserve
To say words I don’t yet believe
But to know that tomorrow will bring me that much closer
To discovering the truth that you already know
Will make me love you that much deeper
And because you possess the virtue of patience
For me, you somehow waited
You knew, I would follow the truth of my heart
Leading me into your love
Here I am
Here you are
When love is real
It can’t be torn asunder.

Turn down the lights, turn down the bed
Turn down these voices inside my head
Lay down with me, tell me no lies
Just hold me close, don't patronize - don't patronize me
cause I can't make you love me if you don't,
You can't make your heart feel something it won't
Here in the dark, in these lonely hours
I will lay down my heart and I'll feel the power
But you won't, no you won't
cause I can't make you love me, if you don't
I'll close my eyes, then I won't see
The love you don't feel when you're holding me
Morning will come and I'll do what's right
Just give me till then to give up this fight
And I will give up this fight.
lyrics by Bonnie Raitt
Just wondering how you come with ideas because like your short stories, I assume most/some of your poems are fictionalized but written from a general vantage point. You don't have to respond but I sent you an email, deanthepoet.
