Sanctuary of My Mind

Poetry and Prose will take you away, you'll be drifting between darkness and eternal moonlight...savage passion and reasonable love will sing their songs...flickers of happiness, embers of sadness...all you need to forget time is still ticking. (written by a reader)

A Woman's Love

A woman who loves you
Is indeed a blessing
Any man would be lucky
To enjoy such passion
At least once in his lifetime
Like a mother’s love,
A woman’s love is fierce, uncompromising
She is who you would want
By your side until the very end
There is no higher calling
Than to love someone with all your heart.

As Simple

As simple as I can say it
Everyday without you
Has me missing you
I know it sounds pathetic
But this is just how I feel
And no one else in the world feels this way
My feelings are my feelings
Even if you may not care to know
My love you will always have
It’s my gift from me to you.

(I heard this nursery rhyme in my head from when I was a kid so I wrote this more in that vein. Sing Song words in my head...just a little ditty….ya)

Secrets

Every secret you’ve ever had
Every secret you’ve ever shared
You revealed them all to me
The first time that we kissed
I kissed the little girl once shy
And now a woman filled with confidence
Such a sexy aphrodisiac self-assurance can be
Your lips taste like a woman in search of love
Who wouldn’t settle just because…
The hunger in your lips
Rekindled a passion in me once lost
I remember who I am again
The deeper my tongue probes
The more secrets are revealed
We are exposed as two lovers
In search of each other
Standing naked, fully clothed
There are no more secrets.

This Longing Ache

This longing ache that I feel
Wrapping its loneliness around my soul
Like quicksand devouring another victim
Has me curled up in a fetal position
On the cold wooden floor
The world is asleep at this God forsaken hour
Until my eyes come to rest on you again my love
Sleep is for the dead and just born babies
The wind howls outside crying my pain
The world doesn’t stop to listen
She moves on with her life leaving me behind
She too has grown tired of my tales of unrequited love
But what is a heart to do
When the only thing it craves is love

No Name Thought

Like a thought born from somewhere of secrecy

A new light appears, a flame of inspiration

To quell the mundane and I feel myself being lifted

To a place of exulation, a promise of good things to come

It's the whisper in the soul letting you know

That somewhere out there, we're all connected

That in this world at any given time

Someone is thinking of you, of something you did

To make them smile and for that only

Your purpose has been served.

Fleeting Life

Time goes by so fast these days now
Faster than it used to when we were younger
Somehow things that seemed so important
To give our life some sort of meaning
Without the routine it all seems so empty
Friends we always thought we would have
Somewhere along the line we went our separate ways
Time spent and endless conversations
Laughs and all those jolly good times
Just a memory frozen in time
Gathering dust occasionally echoing through our hearts
Of the people we once were how easily we are forgotten
By the ones who claim to love us forever
Words lost in a breath disappearing into thin air
How fleeting life can be when you’re not even looking
From a child to a man seems like only a day has passed
Where has all the time gone?
Seemed like we would have forever
How fleeting this life can be
Grab your fist of happy
Cherish it with every breath
One day soon you will need that memory
To keep you going to the next.

The Camera's Eye

She rose from sunset’s arms
To greet the mother earth
Riding rays of sunshine as her chariot
A moment captured by the camera’s eye
God’s two most perfect creation in unison
So sublime…

Temporarily

My mind takes leave of its senses
Only to return when you give me my heart back
In dark alleys I have searched for its soul
But it is now barren, devoid of feeling
Filled with the pain of a lifetime of hurt
When you left you took all of my hope
Temporarily, I lost all of my senses
Only when the rain falls now
Am I replenished once again
And my tears disappear into the raindrops
In search of what once was a life
Only when you come back
Will this rain taste like life again.

(Saw this movie “The Last Kiss’” and one of the characters was so desperately in love and rejected by the love of his life-his pain was palpable.)

Affirmation

To say I love you
Is a natural affirmation of my feelings
My actions already say it
Now my words will say the same
If you need to hear it
To know that my love is real
Because words can paint a story
That action can’t truly eloquently capture
Words connect the heart to the picture
Of all the wonderful things that love can be
In her imagination,
Words always have all the right answers.

Illegal

Women like you should be illegal
You are far too beautiful
To walk this earth unattended
Causing havoc among mortal men
Caught in the path of your beauty
There’s something Greek about you, a passion untamed
You’re a force of nature to be reckoned with
A hurricane that devasates everything in its wake
Once you leave everything will have changed
Life as we know it will cease to exist
And in its place, a breath of fresh air
A renewed sense of appreciation
For the beauty that we see each and everyday

Homecoming

My lips kiss you from memory now
And the intensity is still the same
Burning slowly like embers in a fireplace
I am home again in a place where I discovered love
You are still there to receive me with open arms
As if I never left you in search of deeper passions
Your kiss still sparks the flame
That ignites something magical in my soul
Still waters truly do run deep
I’ve always been here with you
Even when I tried to leave
You somehow knew to wait for me
Home again, after all these years
Love has changed but she’s still the same.

Land of the Grown-Ups

The consumption of passion
Feeds my daily thoughts
The very existence of my soul
Hinges on the depth of my words
To walk in shallow ground serves no purpose
Hallowed ground is where mortals fear to thread
For failure lurks around every dark corner
The monsters of our dreams await our eminent demise
When your mind dwells in that place of dreams and fantasies
The fear of failure is just another adventure
You will have to eventually to conquer
Before you wake up to begin another day
The hero, after all never loses
At least not in the dreams of a little boy
Trapped forever in the land of the grown-ups.

Redemption

Sleep beckons me on this cold night
To rest my weary head on her bosom
She feels the pain my heart can’t speak
She knows it all too well from years gone by
Like a mother worrying over a child
She will cast a wary eye on me
Until the sun rises to greet us both
A new day begins for both of us
A chance at redemption
A chance to again believe
In the healing powers of hope and love.
