First Sight
At first sight my eyes did see
A beauty unlike anything I’ve ever seen
She came to me with a familiar look
As if she had known me all her life
From where this beauty came
I have no idea except to say
Forever I hope she will stay
Rare indeed it is to find such a treasure
Wandering, untouched in plain sight, unrecognized
My eyes did see an angel indeed
Plucked from the heavenly skies
Right into my waiting heart.

Her First Sight
For a long time I listened to time’s fountain pour
and I listened to the wind sing for ever
waves of quiet learning
as far as I remember.
I stood at the shores
of an unknown ocean
and I dreamed long years
where nothing happens but where nothing is forgotten
without knowing
the smallest fire of an absence.
Yes before you shone on me
I did swim
in adolescent beaches with bad tides
I barely remember the strokes
that got me back on the shore.
Only when I met you
I knew
that I had waited for your look
to explain finally
the reason of my goodbyes.
I had waited patiently
for the country of your body, the touch of your hands
your words, your poetry, your prose,
my true compass my north
the meaning to my tomorrows.
I have waited, waited for your love
your lovely your beautiful love
I have waited to finally live.
And now I love you
as long as you want me to
love you and longer still
I will stand by your side
for eternity if you will.
As the sun
spreads its light
and the moon
watches the stars
I will love you
and love you I will.
Until the world
has
played its part.
